Breakfast briefing:

In a breakfast briefing, a panel of peers and experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities in establishing a pre to post-trade workflow to meet the new trading, clearing and reporting requirements of the reformed OTC derivatives market.

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR), call for the use of new market infrastructure to trade, clear and report derivatives trades. Financial institutions face the challenge of ascertaining the most cost-effective, strategic and practical method of participating with these market structures and transforming pre and post-trade workflow processes required to trade via swap execution facilities (SEFs), clearing via multiple clearinghouses (CCPs), and report to the newly established swap data repositories (SDRs).

In this breakfast briefing, the audience will gain insight into the challenges and practical implications of connecting to new market structures within the OTC derivatives and how to adjust trade workflow accordingly from trading to clearing and reporting.

A presentation will offer an overview of the status of regulatory reform under both the Dodd-Frank Act and EMIR, followed by a review of what the new OTC derivatives workflow looks like and where the challenges and opportunities lie for both the buy-side and sell-side firms operating in the OTC space.

A panel of peers and experts will share their experiencing in developing a regulatory a compliant OTC workflow operation including transformation of pre and post-trade risk management procedures for managing credit, market and liquidity risk, as well as how they have adapted collateral management practices to support central clearing. The panel will review the challenges they faced, especially in light of uncertainty surrounding the rules, and the opportunities they see from establishing a post-trade for OTC now.
